Taupo IKa Nui was a good place to stay. We used it mainly as a base to visit the surrounding area. There were cold winds from the lake, but away from the lake it was reasonable for this time of year.
We went to Tongariro National Park . It was great seeing the snow on mountain tops. Unfortunately we were a month too late to see it close by. We also visited the Taumarunui area and unfortunately it rained all day.
We spent a day in Rotorua and walked the TreeTops walkway and some of the gardens in the city.
Visited a lot of mud pool areas and hot pools. The boat trip up the Huka Falls was very interesting – the owner of the boat pointed out the sights and history.
