In these modern times where we spend long hours on various devices, it’s so important to have a ‘prevention is better than cure’ practice in place. Because nobody wants to have to pop pain-relief pills, have scary surgeries and suffer issues due to unchecked chronic pain. The good news is there are so many natural ways we can retain a supple, relaxed and flexible body. Prevent your body from ageing with these easy tips…
LET’S WARM IT UP
Moving in the morning loosens up the body, gets the blood circulation, and oxygen moving. Stretch out the body with simple yoga movements that will help lengthen and strengthen your limbs. Regular saunas and steams are also amazing for relaxing tightness in the body.
KEEP NOURISHED
Eat more fiber. Ginger root is known for relieving pain including aching joints and arthritis. Dose up with anti-inflammatory foods such as blueberries, wild salmon, and turmeric. Magnesium-rich foods like dark leafy greens, lentils and pumpkin seeds are highly recommended.
TAKE DIGITAL DOWNTIME
Sitting at the computer for long periods causes rapid aging in the body like stiff ‘tech neck’ – have you heard the phrase ‘sitting is the new smoking’? Experts recommend we get up every twenty-minutes. We suggest you set your phone alarm at twenty-minute intervals so you can stand up, move around, get a glass of water (or better still, hot ginger water!). You’ll feel the benefits.
TRY HOT & COLD THERAPY
Alternating between hot and cold has been a therapy practiced for centuries as a way to keep the body young, mobile and agile. You can do this at home by turning on the shower to cold for 1 minute each day – brrr! Seriously, this feels both refreshing and reviving!
MOVEMENT AND MASSAGETRY HOT & COLD THERAPY
Massage is an obvious way to keep the tissues soft and treat stiffness– try a Deep Tissue Massage! Until our spas open, try the Ayurvedic self-massage technique where you rub warm coconut or sesame oil over your body before showering as this keeps the body supple as well as maintains youthful skin texture. And if you need inspiration for motivating workouts, here are links to some of our sports luminary fitness tips.
